The three major Museums in Amsterdam, the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk and the Van Gogh are situated around the Museumplein. The larger museums can take many hours to explore and it can be worth buying a guide before beginning your tour. The one museum no-one misses in Amstwerdam is Anne Frank’s House, the home of the young Jewish girl made famous by her diaries. It’s very popular, so you need to be prepared for a long queue during the summer months.

The Stedelijk holds a large collection of modern art dating from around 1880. Admission about €10.
